What's Cookin' at Casey's, at 608 Allegheny River Boulevard in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, is an Italian restaurant owned by Bill & Rose Henry and Casey & Jerry Tolerico. Following is the history of how the restaurant began.

Rose's Grandfather owned a construction company in Calabria, Italy, and her Grandmother was in charge of cooking for all of the workers. She was an excellent cook, and she passed her knowledge and recipes down to Rose's mother, Clara.

Clara proved to be a superb cook in her own right. Clara's husband, Casey Tolerico, was so proud of his wife's cooking skills that he would often bring several business associates home from Westinghouse, where he worked, to sample his wife's cooking. Clara would lay out a huge spread for all to enjoy.

When Casey suddenly passed away, Clara, who was just in her early 50's, was left without any income for the family. Rose's brother Fred, her sister Angela, and another business partner opened the first Casey's in 1967 to provide income for Clara. During the next 10 years, several more Casey's were opened with the help of Angela and, of course, Clara, using her original Italian recipes and famous pizza dough.

Rose's husband Bill Henry was a salesman who called on various steel companies in the Pittsburgh area. When Bill sensed the decline of the steel industry beginning in Pittsburgh, he felt that it would be a good idea to start a restaurant in Oakmont to provide a second income for him and Rose. Originally Bill and Rose planned to open only a pizza shop, but the landlord who owned the property that the Henry's were thinking of renting, persuaded them to open a full service restaurant in the location instead. So, in 1984, What's Cookin' at Casey's was opened for business in Oakmont.

Over the years, most of the original Casey's restaurants opened with the help of Clara Tolerico have been sold off. Rose's nephew, Steve Geraci, owns one of the original remaining Casey's restaurants located in Turtle Creek.

Rose's nephew Casey Tolerico, along with his father Fred Tolerico and brother Jerry Tolerico, owns Tolerico's in the Monroeville area of Pittsburgh.

There are other restaurants in the Pittsburgh area that may have similar sounding names to What's Cookin' at Casey's, but NONE of them use the authentic recipes and pizza dough passed down from Clara Tolerico. Only at What's Cookin' at Casey's in Oakmont, Casey's in Turtle Creek, and Tolerico's in Monroeville, will you find Clara's authentic Italian and specialty cuisine.

Bill and Rose Henry have two children, a daughter Christine and a son Jim. The Henry's also have five grandchildren. Bill and Rose hope that some day their children and grandchildren, along with their nephews Casey and Jerry, will take over the operation of the restaurant and continue the family tradition.
